Bonnie is a self-directed painter with 40 plus years working in cartography and architecture prior to becoming a full-time artist. She works with a variety of mediums including oil and acrylic on canvas or cradled board, recycled wood and ‘live edge’ cedar planks; her recent work is focused on acrylic paintings of black bear mommas. Bonnie has deep-seated fears of bears as a result of a few harrowing close encounters and her recent work is designed to desensitize that fear.
StatementI paint about nature, animals that make me feel something. Vulnerable species that are easily predated. Predators that are only doing what nature directs. I connect with how hard it is for them to survive and thrive. They are not concerned with how you feel about what they do. I work in oil and or acrylic on canvas and board.
