Bonnie Coulter

Bonnie is a self-directed painter with 40 plus years working in cartography and architecture prior to becoming a full-time artist. She works with a variety of mediums including oil and acrylic on canvas or cradled board, recycled wood and ‘live edge’ cedar planks; her recent work is focused on acrylic paintings of black bear mommas. Bonnie has deep-seated fears of bears as a result of a few harrowing close encounters and her recent work is designed to desensitize that fear.

Statement

I paint about nature, animals that make me feel something. Vulnerable species that are easily predated. Predators that are only doing what nature directs. I connect with how hard it is for them to survive and thrive. They are not concerned with how you feel about what they do. I work in oil and or acrylic on canvas and board.
