The West Shore Ecology Flora and Fauna investigates and documents elements of the West Shore ecosystem within the rural District of Metchosin and the lands of the Sc’ianew First Nation, including Spirit Bay, where I reside. Informed by life along the ocean and within forest surroundings, this work reflects the presence and ecological roles of diverse biota in Vancouver Island’s landscapes. Through a creative collaboration with artificial intelligence tools, I explore and respond to the natural environment and the complicated dynamic qualities of this ecosystem.
